The Drinking Song

If you haven’t listened to the rhyme Hush Little Baby then please click the link and listen to it before you read further. The tune is very important!

Steve gets fired. On his way back home, he stops by at Ron’s place and tells him about the unfortunate incident. Steve and Ron decide to go to the bar and drink their troubles away. On their way back, Ron promises to be there for Steve and lend him money to buy anything he wants.

Hush, little high friend, don’t say a word,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird don’t sing,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a diamond ring

And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass is broke,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a billy goat,

And if that billy goat won’t pull,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a cart and a bull.

And if that cart and bull turn over,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover won’t bark,
Your buddy’s gonna buy you a horse and a cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,
Your buddy’s gonna lift you and walk down town.
