An Open Letter To Myself

Hi all, here is a letter I wrote to myself. I read it when I lose focus, when I feel a little low, when I am lonely or when the world manages to take my self-esteem down a notch.

Dearest (insert you name here),

How do you want to see yourself down the lane? Imagine that and visualize the future YOU, now. The fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself. Never let worries rob you off your life force because in the long run, worries injure the soul. Failure is essential to personal expansion. Focus on the good things. Develop positive thoughts and you are sure to succeed. In order to attain your goal you have to be on the right path. If things go wrong, do not fret; it’s never too late, you still have another chance. Correct yourself before it’s too late. Your only competitor is YOU. Remember, nobody is perfect, everybody makes mistakes. But what is important is learning from your mistakes. Have no regrets.

You only live once. Life is all about the little things that make us happy. Pat that stray dog, buy some food for the homeless, tell your crush how much you like him, tell that girl you admire how beautiful she is, Kiss your mom, hug your dad, thank the gatekeeper – let him know that he is not insignificant, help a stranger, visit the old-age home, play with the kids at the orphanage, donate your old books to the library, teach a kid how to read, tell your friend you cannot do without him, help that visually impaired person cross the road, nurture a plant, talk to your grandparents, pamper yourself, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss  slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, sing like you’re inside the toilet, dance like nobody’s watching and never regret anything that made you smile.

Become friends with people who aren’t your age. Hang out with people whose first language isn’t yours. Get to know someone who doesn’t come from your social class. This is how you see the world. This is how you grow.

Don’t carry any negative thoughts. Everything happens for a reason. Cry as much as you want, but make sure you never cry for the same reason twice. Instead of thinking about your past, live in the present. Maybe that is why it is called present; it is a gift so unwrap it and revel in it. Today is an opportunity for a better tomorrow. Make use of all the fleeting seconds. You were created for a purpose and this is your quest to realize yourself. The darkest hour of the day comes just before dawn. No matter what happens, don’t lose hope. Hope is what keeps us going. Even if everybody gave up on you, have faith in yourself. The only person who matters is YOU and the only thing that matters is what YOU think about yourself.  Destiny is nothing but what YOU want to accomplish. Put in positive thoughts and positive energy into your mind, every second of every minute of every day. It is the possibility of a dream, come true that makes life interesting.

If you fall down, don’t just lie there, get up and move on. And don’t forget that smile. You have two options: either to face hardships with a smile or to sulk so why sulk when you can smile. Smile or sulk you have to pass through it, so you better cross the hurdle with a bright smile rather than sulking. And whatever happens, never lose hope. You wanna be an achiever? Well put your heart and soul into it and it’s a piece of cake!!!  So what are you waiting for!?  Rub off that wrinkle on your forehead! You ready?
